Cornerstone Serve Teams

Serving out of an overflow of our gifts, we seek to benefit both the Cornerstone community and work towards the renewal of all things in Tulsa, our country, and the world.

As a part of Cornerstone’s mission, all regular attenders are encouraged to join a Ministry Team as a way to faithfully, regularly, and joyfully serve with the church. Our service is a way to engage with the work of the Spirit in our lives.

There are a myriad of ways you can serve. We have many needs on Sunday mornings, and all are encouraged to serve once a month on Sundays. Outside of Sundays, the needs grow to the spiritual, emotional, and physical needs of those around us.

Sunday Ministries

Sunday Ministry Teams functionally make our Sunday services happen every week.

  • Worship - Join the worship team and be a part of creating an environment of reflection and focus on God through music. Everyone who has interest – all skill levels and all experience levels – are welcome!

  • Hospitality - Help set the tone of Missional Hospitality for everyone on a Sunday morning … from a first time guest to a long-time member. We want to joyfully make room for all.

  • Production - Technology won’t work by itself (yet). This team runs sound, slides, and more so that the Sunday worship experience is as undistracted as possible.

  • Communion - Serve the Eucharist to our church body, joyfully and prayerfully being a part of this weekly ritual of remembrance.

Formation Ministries

Formation Ministry teams focus on how we are all working to live under the rule and reign of Jesus. From kids learning basic truths to students figuring out how to be a Christian in the world to adults leaning into life together, Formation Ministries are a foundation for living life as an Apprentice of Christ.

  • Kids - Our biggest ministry team by far, our kids volunteers serve on Sundays, not just as childcare but also as men and women investing in the spiritual lives of the next generation.

  • Students - Student leaders have the privilege of knowing and walking alongside Cornerstone middle and high schoolers throughout their teen years, shepherding their hearts, minds, and relationships as they learn to be people who live lives honoring to the Gospel.

  • AG Leader - Apprentice group leaders help create spaces where spiritual friendships can grow. They offer hospitality, care, and discernment for small communities of people learning to share life together as they follow Jesus.

  • Courses - Cornerstone courses are a resource for people wanting to dive deeper into specific topics. Taught by a pastor, a staff person, or a trusted member of the congregation, limited courses will be offered on a semester basis. You can see our course schedule here!

Care Ministries

Care ministry is crucial to the flourishing of a community shaped by the gospel for the renewal of all things. We believe community is network of friendships under the Lordship of Christ, realizing that each of us are interconnected and interdependent on one another for our discipleship, care, and flourishing; we know how important it is to take seriously Jesus’ command to love our neighbors as ourselves (Mk 12.30-31) as well as Paul’s admonition to bear one another’s burdens (Gal 6.2).

  • Care Companion - This team is composed of Cornerstone members who have received training to pray for and companion other members of the church who are suffering for as long as their needs persist.

  • Prayer - Anchoring our community in conversation with God, the prayer team receives and prays over anonymous prayer requests and serves as prayer partners on Sunday mornings in services.

  • Meal Team - Working to meet practical needs, the meal team drops off same-day homemade meals to those experiencing acute crisis.

  • Prepare/Enrich - Married couples in our community serve as 1:1 mentors for engaged couples before their wedding celebration.

Partnership Ministries

“The church is the only institution that exists primarily for the benefit of those who are not its members.” - Archbishop William Temple. Our Partnership Ministries focus on others … serving those within and outside of the walls of the church, and believing that renewal of all things is a promise from God.

  • Local Renewal - The local renewal team serves/seeks new opportunities to serve our city. Members of this team serve regularly with Local Renewal Partners (organizations that we've chosen to partner with) that work to address our Renewal Focuses (vulnerable children, local schools, justice-involved, houseless, and refugees). This team is led by Renewal Leaders, members of our congregation that work in an area of Focus and serve as our contact with our Partners.

  • Global Renewal - The Global Renewal team meets bi-monthly to pray for international missions we support and assess new opportunities for international partnerships!

  • Events - A team of truly servant-minded people who work diligently behind the scenes to set-up and break-down events.
